Towards Better Visualisation of Alpine Quaternary Landform Features on High-Resolution Digital Elevation Models

چکیده

Alpine topography is formed by a complex series of geomorphological processes that result in vast number different landforms. The youngest and most diverse landforms are various Quaternary sedimentary bodies, each characterised its unique landform features. formation bodies their features derive from the dominant building processes. In recent years, studies have been greatly aided use digital elevation models (DEMs) derived airborne laser scanning (ALS). High-resolution DEMs allow detailed mapping detection surface changes, recognition often displayed as hillshaded reliefs, common visualisation technique, which suffers limitation single illumination source. As result, can be barely visible or even invisible to viewer if they parallel light source hidden shadow. These limitations become challenging when representing subtle landscape alpine topography. this study, we focus on eleven visualisations morphological 0.5 m resolution DEM. We qualitatively compare analytical hillshading with set techniques contained Raster Visualisation Toolbox software, primarily multiple directions RGB, 8-bit sky view factor slope. aim determine technique best suited for visual sedimentation landscapes. Detailed examination previously documented Pleistocene moraine lacustrine deposits, Holocene alluvial fans, scree debris flow fluvial deposits created revealed several small-scale were difficult impossible detect aerial photographs. Hillshading resulted could universally applied across mountainous hilly terrains. contrast, slope better visibility facilitated interpretation (less than ten metres)

Effects of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) Spatial Resolution on Hydrological Simulation

Digital Elevation Model is one of the most important data for watershed modeling whit hydrological models that it has a significant impact on hydrological processes simulation. Several studies by the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) as useful Tool have indicated that the simulation results of this model is very sensitive to the quality of topographic data. The aim of this study is evaluati...

Comparison of digital elevation models of alpine glaciers

Glaciers are indicators of the global climate change. The change in the extent and volume of a glacier can be estimated from digital elevation models (DEMs) produced from remotely sensed spaceborne or airborne data using photogrammetric, interferometric, or laser scanning techniques. For this study, the most promising data sources available were selected and tested. The selected sites were two ...

Towards High Precission Digital Elevation Model

In this work, in experimental phase, the digital elevations models (DEMs) appear as a fundamental tool for studying erosion of the land in a concrete zone of agricultural production, olives production. Collected data from the zone of study in different campaigns are used to determine possible variations in the orography of the land. GPS is the used tool to measuring coordinates of points in the...

Perspectives on Open Access High Resolution Digital Elevation Models to Produce Global Flood Hazard Layers

Global flood hazard models have recently become a reality thanks to the release of open access global digital elevation models, the development of simplified and highly efficient flow algorithms, and the steady increase in computational power. In this commentary we argue that although the availability of open access global terrain data has been critical in enabling the development of such model...
